On Saturday we went to a butterfly farm in High Point. We had never been before and were not sure what to expect. They started off with a presentation on the butterfly and gave us all kinds of interesting information! Did you know the life span of the Monarch butterfly is only two weeks!!? Craziness!! It takes them 30 days from egg to butterfly and they only live on average half that time! Sounds like a rough deal to me.
After the presentation they split us all into two groups to go in and see the butterflies. We were in the second group so we had some time to kill.
We took silly pictures..
and Austin and Daddy played Frisbee.
I of course took pictures of everything! Haha...shocking huh!
It was finally our turn. When we got inside they gave everyone a sugar pad and most of them already had butterflies on them. Austin was so gentle with his butterfly. It was so sweet to see such a sweet side from my rough and tumble boy!
David's butterflies were mating!! Haha! Guess we will be seeing more butterflies soon!
Asher thought they were pretty cool too! He kept trying to grab them. They kept landing on him....even the butterflies think he is so cute!
These butterflies just emerged from the chrysalis (which is the butterfly version of a cocoon.)

This ended up being such a fun activity and perfect for Austin! They give you so much time with the butterflies and the weather was perfect! I am looking forward to our summer adventures. I love sharing new things with my boys!
